Find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease, myeloma and allied cancers by means of awarding Discovery Grants to innovative developmental research projects. Provide for palliative care. Conduct marrow donor drives and promote cord blood donations.

GRANT FUNDING

Our grants supply seed money to innovative research projects at many of the country’s most respected medical institutions. Each project represents one important piece of the puzzle toward understanding leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease, myeloma and allied cancers. To date, we have awarded in excess of $3,950 million. Subsequently, many grantees have generated over $175 million in additional funding, publishing significant papers, winning research awards and contributing directly to new drugs and protocols now in use.

SELECTION PROCESS

Each year, with the guidance of our distinguished Medical Advisory Board, The Lauri Strauss Leukemia Foundation invites proposals for innovative new research projects. The LSLF Medical Board reviews applications and recommends the most promising projects to the LSLF Board of Directors.

Grant Award Supervision

Our Grant Coordinators carefully monitor each grant allocation. No funds may be used for capital equipment, administration, overhead or indirect costs by the receiving institution. We require mid-term and end-of-project reports, along with a budget expense report prior to the final disbursement of the grant.
