The Lauri Strauss Leukemia Foundation honors the memory of a spirited, delightful young woman who was stricken too early in life by leukemia.
A Schreiber High School graduate, she was stricken at age 24 and lost to us just seven months later. Her family and friends wanted her energy to live on. The foundation’s mission is to find cause and cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin disease, multiple myeloma, and allied cancers.

The 8th annual LSLF Bike Tour/bayWalk for Research
Sunday, May 19, 2019
Join hundreds of other riders and walkers for this charity event for a leisurely bicycle ride or walk (not a race) while helping to raise money for leukemia and allied cancer research.
The 3.3-mile tour is perfect for families with children while the 14 and 21-mile tour is fun for intermediate bikers. The 3-mile Bay Walk is great for anyone who does not ride a bike or wants to do a leisure walk. Neither tour features steep inclines.
All participants will receive a free raffle ticket for a chance to win a great prize. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased during the event.
2018 Bike Tour
The 7th annual LSLF Bike Tour/BayWalk for Research
Sunday, May 20, 2018
Once more the Lauri Strauss Leukemia Foundation sponsoring this fun-filled event. Starting at the train station in Port Washington at 8:30 AM the bikers will have the choice of 3 routes. Long 21 miles, medium 14 miles, and short 3.3 miles. The short route enables young bikers to participate. The longer routes take the bikers along scenic routes in Port and surrounding towns.
For the non-biker, the BayWalk is a delightful way to exercise while enjoying the beauty and diversity of Port Washington. Walking down Main Street, toward the Bay, and along its shore, with friends and neighbors, is a joyful experience for a very good cause.
